CIS foils Al-Qaeda's underwear bomb

The United States counter terror officials have killed the mastermind behind the underpants bomb plot in Yemen on Sunday. Fahd Al-Quso was the person who was killed in the operation. He was the leader of al-Qaeda in Arabian Peninsula terror group. The killed terrorist Quso’s plan was first reported by the Associated Press on Monday.

The plot to bring down the plane was reportedly planned for the last week on the anniversary of killing of al Qaeda former chief Osama Bin Laden. The plot was said to be hatched in Yemen by Quso.

The New York Federal Court has indicated Fahd Al-Quso for his alleged role in cole bombing that killed 17 US sailors in 2000. Reports even indicated that Quso recently became operations manager of Al Qaeda in Arabian Peninsula.

Also, Quso was the most wanted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and police declared five million dollars as bounty on his head. He was 37 years old when he was killed in CIA drone attack.

The Associated Press has also reported that it knew about the news earlier itself but refrained from publishing on the request of White House. The report has said that Fahd Al-Quso has appointed Ibrahim Hassan al-Asiri, the same bomb maker from the same terror outfit who tried to blast an airplane on Christmas in 2009.

Meanwhile, the officials are fearing that Al Qaeda might have designed many such plans to brings down the planes. (Phani)
