Income Tax officials, belonging to Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, today conducted simultaneous raids on the residences and houses of Malayalam superstars Mammootty and Mohanlal in Thiruvananthapuram, Chennai, Kochi and Bangalore.
IT sources in Chennai said that the raids were the result of complaints that the stars had amassed wealth disproportionate to their known sources of income.
80 officials of the three states formed into teams and carried out the searches, according to the sources. The searches, which began early this morning, were going on when reports last came in.
