Bajirao Ballal Bhat also called as Peshwa Bajirao (Ranveer Singh), is a huge warrior, who won 40 battles and lost none. He aims to rule the entire country, after dethroning the Mughals from Delhi.

Bajirao falls in love with Mastani (Deepika Padukone), a Muslim woman and daughter of Bundelkhand king. Bajirao’s mother (Tanvi Azmi), who is against inter-religious marriages, opposes his son loving Mastani.

Bajirao gets married to Kashibai (Priyanka Chopra). Did he fulfill his wish of ruling the country, along with winning his love battle? The answer for this question, forms the rest of the story.

Bajirao Mastani Analysis

Bajirao Mastani Movie Review and Ratings

After Ram-Leela, the chemistry between Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone goes to the next level in Bajirao Mastani. Upon having the several things to discuss in Bajirao and Mastani’s historic story, it seems, director Sanjay Leela Bhansali gets confused about what to concentrate and tries to mix up several things in a single dish. Especially, he plays the hide and seek between the war and romance of Bajirao and Mastani.

Along with that, the movie is very slow paced and gets tedious in the first half. Also, too many emotional scenes in the second half, makes the audience feel bore. But the way, a few war episodes and other huge sets involving scenes are shot, makes one run to the theatres.

Performance

Ranveer Singh as Bajirao, has given a stunning performance. He could perfectly adopt the historic character into him. His Marathi accent and the body language, as Bajirao, would be a treat to Bollywood audience.

On the other side, Deepika Padukone is not less to Ranveer. The interesting fact in Deepika is, when the scene requires performance, she can herself reduce the amount of glamor and makes the audience focus on her acting.

One can observe that difference in Mastani’s character, if they are regular followers of Deepika movies. Her chemistry with Ranveer is again magical. Though Priyanka Chopra has less screen presence, she still manages to shine in the crowd. The rest of the cast, including Tanvi Azmi, Milind Soman and Mahesh Manjrekar, have given impressive performances.

Costumes designed by Anju Modi and exquisite jewellery designed by the 226-year-old Delhi-based jewellers Shri Hari Diagems, makes the historical epic, more lively and audience feel the atmosphere of Bajirao’s era in the theatre.

Bajirao Mastani Final Word

Putting the plot aside, Bajirao Mastani, would be a visual treat, which has some top notch visual wonders and terrific performances by the lead cast. All these make Bajirao Mastani movie, a sure watchable one.
